Project Description
the Earth School Competition
Providing access to education in rural areas, alongside reducing the environmental impact of the construction sector in Senegal, is imperative. Our proposal bringing awareness to the potential of traditional building materials and the architectural methods of their cultural legacy, highlights the use of affordable materials into a culturally driven, low technology architecture. The required spaces are arranged so as to create an open central area (every classroom faces the courtyard) aiming to respect and highlight the existence of the trees where different kind of activities take place the five main separate modules interact between themselves and the outdoors area creating different patterns of circulations, whether informally between classes or for more organized events and celebrations.
